Dear Participants,
Since addiction has reached a dimension that has caused great problems in every environment and society in recent years, we believe that studying this issue and especially addressing it with multidisciplinary approach such as Forensic Sciences is very important and will contribute to the field, so our title this year was Addiction and Forensic Sciences.
When the definition of addiction is the loss of control over an object or an action that a person uses; when the frequency of use / behaviour is reduced or discontinued, withdrawal symptoms such as restlessness, insomnia, anger are observed, it is seen that the subject covers not only the most common substance addiction but also technology and gambling issues and includes psychological, sociological, medical, legal and forensic dimensions.
One of the most destructive and important issues caused by addiction is acts of violence and its traumatic effects. Therefore, addiction cases appear as events that include violence and are inherent in their nature. In this congress, we want to talk about the analysis, evaluation and results of this event and discuss the approaches especially in the field of forensic sciences.
In the congress, which we will hold in cooperation with ASUMA (Acıbadem Crime and Violence Research Centre) at Acıbadem University, we expect the participation and contributions of all our experts and students working in forensic sciences and all health professionals, especially psychologists, lawyers, social workers, sociology, PDR specialists, doctors and nurses.
We hope that our congress, which will be held at Acıbadem University on 24-25 May with the contributions of important names in the field at international and national level, will be scientifically beneficial.
Sincerely,
Prof. Oğuz Polat, M.D.
President of the Congress
